It then arranges space in a way that is convenient to the set of information in question. It omits all unrelated information (such as skills you don't have) and condenses all related information (skill you do have). They coexist in the same space and thats it.Ī data dump is, first and foremost, concerned with space. They have different target audiences, different goals and use different means to achieve their goals. Again, you are comparing apples and oranges.įill out character sheets and data dump sheets are not in competition with each other. I mean if his goal was to set out and make a product to be functionally worse than the "competition" then gratz I guess?Ī fill out character sheet is by definition "worse" than a data dump that generates and distributes space as needed if distribution and availability of space is your measure of "good". Sure she may look nice, but she doesn't actually do anything. Like that girl at the convenience store who's always on her phone. Sure, they may look artistic, but they are not "fit for purpose"Ĭompared to something like this from herolab or this from chummer It just doesn't "work" Hell, with 8 slots for gear you can't even fit in your basic essentials. Or how do riggers even use these, no room for the drones, no rcc tab, Which is irrelevant for mundanes, i get we're playing magic run now but come onĪbout how the 3 follow up sheets are non functional in that they don't support anyone because they have either matrix stuff, with techno listings, but no cyberdeck+magic listing, Or the 7 "program slots" or the wasted space of augmentations on people who aren't gonna have augments I could give a full breakdown, but that would be "meaner" than what I have already mentioned.Ībout how the skills don't go up to the maximum rankingĪbout how each sheet has either a magic or resonance section. I also have a reputation for being "to the point" Judge it for what it is, a pre-defined character sheet that seeks to merge art and function. If you want to judge it, judge it based on that. He most likely knows this and decided that he wanted to make a sheet anyway, for his own reasons. It's a data dump that is designed to contain exactly what you (the user) need and nothing else. What comes out of herolabs and chummer is not a character sheet. Your comparison is unfair and on par with apples to oranges. It is incredibly disheartening to go through that and then hear a generic "this doesn't do what I want". He then went ahead and made the community of SR a better one by offering it up for free to anyone who wants it. He poured a lot of time and effort into creating something that is both artistic and functional. But if you don't have any constructive feedback to give, just don't post. If you don't like his work, by all means, say that. However, I feel the need to point something out. Just pointing out that for some of us, this is a little too limited ) To finally come to a more positive note: The design looks pretty nice and I'm sure when being new to the game/playing a more streamlined build you can get real use out of those sheets.

In Chummer, most of this information is already displayed, on however much space is needed to do so and with the option to write tons of notes right in there. Where I keep extra sheets of all the modifications/stuff that didn't fit on your sheet. This in turn forces me to only write in there things like Cyberlimb - Standard - Modified* - 1 How should I fit in there, that my Cyberlimb has: Armor 2, Cuytomized Agility 6, Customized Strength 6, Cyberlimb Optimization (Pistols), Enhanced Agility 2, Enhanced Strength 2, Shock Hand and Spurs?

For nearly any build I have that uses augmentations this is really limited. e.: On sheet SRCS2b I see 10 lines for Augmentations. The main problem I see with many Character sheets, is the lack of room to write notes or fit all the information I need in there. "Watch your back, shoot straight, conserve ammo, and never, ever, cut a deal with a dragon."Īs much as I appreciate the effort of different people to try and make nice-looking sheets, I find myself agreeing with /u/Bamce in that you usually have a hard time trying to beat the sheer usefulness and flexibility of Chummer (and Herolab? didn't use that before, so no idea).
